About DIMO
DIMO is the vehicle data infrastructure that powers the session-based economy. We give developers a single, permissioned API to real-time data from vehicles across the 50+ brands already connected to DIMO, so teams can build rentals, pay-per-use, fleet, insurance, and AI applications without integrating each make themselves.
What we build
- Works with any make: one API to vehicle data across the 50+ brands already connected to DIMO, with normalized real-time telemetry, vehicle identity, and event webhooks. DIMO runs direct integrations like the Tesla oracle, and you can connect any other source by building on the oracle example. Want a direct integration for your brand? Reach out to us.
- Permissioned by design: vehicle owners grant and revoke access through the SACD consent model. Developers only ever see what a user has explicitly shared. This is built to meet GDPR and the EU Data Act.
- AI-ready: Agent skills and MCP-accessible data streams for building AI applications over real vehicle data.
- Open core: the protocol and core tooling are open source, so there is no vendor lock-in.
Our story
DIMO was founded in 2021 around a frustration familiar to anyone who has shipped a connected-vehicle product: the data exists, but reaching it means a separate contract, a separate API, and a separate consent story for every manufacturer. Most teams spend their first quarter building integration plumbing instead of their product.
So we built the plumbing once, in the open. Drivers connect their own cars to the network (more than 50 brands so far), and developers get one permissioned API for telemetry, identity, and consent. The protocol and core tooling are open source, which means anyone can audit how access control actually works rather than taking our word for it.
Today DIMO powers rentals, fleet tools, insurance products, EV charging apps, and AI agents that act on real vehicle data with the owner's explicit, revocable permission.
Recognition
DIMO is a 2026 MotorTrend Group Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) Award finalist, selected alongside Tesla, Ford, GM, and Mercedes-Benz.
Leadership
Yevgeny "Yev" Khessin — CEO & Co-Founder. Yev spent more than a decade building connected-vehicle systems before starting DIMO: connected vehicle programs at General Motors and OnStar, dispatch software for autonomous vehicles at Ford's Argo AI, and automotive IoT platforms at Aeris Communications. He holds a computer science degree from Michigan State University, co-founded DIMO in 2021 as CTO, and became CEO in 2026. He has been a car enthusiast his whole life.
Our mission
We believe the people who drive vehicles should control the data those vehicles produce, and that open infrastructure, not walled gardens, is how the next generation of mobility products gets built. DIMO was founded in 2021 to make that infrastructure real.
